About the event
Learn how to sharpen and maintain your carving tools! This class will focus on the core concepts in sharpening – how to put an edge on your tools using accessible and inexpensive sharpening system of sandpaper, leather strops, and elbow grease. Students are encouraged to reach out to instructor before the class if there are any other edge tools they would like to learn how to sharpen!
Students leave class with: bag with wood block, one of each grit sandpaper; handouts; their sharpened tools
Lee is a spoon carver and green woodworker with a background in education. They have been carving avidly for three years. Lee teaches to a broad spectrum of learners – whatever your learning style and whoever you are, this is the place for you! Lee’s favorite tool is the froe (used for splitting wood), and their favorite place to be is in the woods with their dog, Artie.

Classes will all be taught outside under a tent, with a backup plan in case of rain. The location at Foster Farm is rustic, and participants should be comfortable being outdoors for the full day. Please bring your own lunch and anything else you need to be comfortable. Seating will be provided and there is a composting outhouse.
