Nate Paine and Mary Fraser both grew up in very musical families and have been playing the fiddle for two plus decades. Both having departed from the family tradition - Mary's style moved from her classical training into musical immersion and extensive travels through Scotland, Ireland, and the southern states. Nate's style developed through a long-term mentorship and friendship with Jon Bekoff, an influential old-time fiddler in southern Vermont. Their words to describe themselves: "Playing music together is an expression of the learning and shifting required for being close with another person. How to compliment and harmonize with the other, yet be yourself. Finding that balance within the form of music is a vulnerable, creative and fun experience. It is a collaborative art form that is one of the languages of our connection." You can hear Nate and Mary play in town halls, for barn dances, small living room concerts and busking on the street. A mix of twin fiddle harmony, guitar and fiddle blues, traditional ballads and funny songs, and even a crankie or two - this is a stunning collaboration.
